Biovanta claims to be scientifically proven safer and more effective than other over-the-counter (OTC) cold, cough and sore throat medicines, but what does that really mean? Don’t most OTC medications work more or less the same way?
The answer is an emphatic “No!” The leading brands contain the same handful of harmful synthetic ingredients, including Dextromethorphan, Phenylephrine, Guaifenesin and Acetaminophen. These ingredients are mostly designed to mask cold symptoms, and in so doing they can damage your upper respiratory cells. Biovanta, on the other hand, is designed to work at the source of your symptoms – it treats the inflammation that causes the symptoms.
But don’t just take our word for it! In a recent peer-reviewed, published paper titled “A novel anti-inflammatory treatment for bradykinin-induced sore throat or pharyngitis”, Biovanta was tested head-to-head against the leading brands by stimulating live throat tissue samples in a laboratory with an inflammatory signal (the same one cells release when infected), and then treating them with each of the formulations to assess the impact. The study results showed that Biovanta was the ONLY product that treated upper respiratory inflammation while helping the respiratory system to recover. This was determined by a series of scientific measures for inflammation, pain, and cell health. Let’s take a look at each of these.
In the chart labeled “Inflammation”, the blue column represents healthy untreated respiratory cells and the green column represents the cells treated with Biovanta. Here, a low value indications little inflammation. As you can see, the cells treated with Biovanta maintain very little inflammation—on par with untreated cells. The cells treated with the leading brands are left with significant inflammation, or, in the case of those with a zero value, the cells have died as a result of the treatment.
Similar results are seen in the chart labeled “Inflammation/Pain”, where the cells treated with Biovanta maintain low levels relative to most competitors.
In the chart labeled “Cell Integrity”, the blue column again represents healthy untreated cells and the green column is the cells treated with Biovanta. As you can see, the cell integrity is fully intact after being treated with Biovanta—on par with untreated cells. The cells treated with the leading products, on the other hand, show major damage to the cell membrane.
Similarly, in the chart labeled “Cell Toxicity”, the cells treated with Biovanta maintain very low levels of toxicity whereas the cells treated with competitive products are under distress, compromising cellular integrity.
Another way to look at the study results is to visually compare the upper respiratory tissue samples under a microscope after treatment with each of the leading ingredients. As you can see from the below comparison, the cells treated with Biovanta look nearly identical to the health untreated cells. The cells treated with the leading ingredients, on the other hand, show significant cell damage.
In conclusion, the scientific studies demonstrate that the active ingredients in Biovanta help reduce the inflammation that causes upper respiratory infections, while leading brands, which are designed to mask symptoms, do more harm than good.
